Stacey Davenport educating her community

Educational Booths / Ambassador Program: These booths help to educate the public on mini pigs as pets. We are able to share educational flyers to educate the public. We are able to spread the word of the plight of these pigs that far too often find themselves displaced. We encourage public support of rescues & sanctuaries, helping to drive more donors and supporters to these organizations. Pig parents visiting the booth will benefit from the information to better care for their own pigs & keep them in their home. If a pig parent is having difficulty with a pig at home, the Rescue Advocates work to find a solution to ensure the pig does not become displaced, or to assist in the rehoming if there is no other choice.

Facebook: The American Mini Pig Rescue Advocates use Facebook to advocate, encourage support, and network. We are able to share success stories of adoptions, share the needs of other rescues, educate, advocate, and increase community involvement! Facebook is a valuable resource to share our fundraisers in order to help more pigs & rescues.

Blanket Drive: Every Pig Deserves a Blanket! The AMPA Rescue Advocates tirelessly spread the word of the Blanket Drive across social media as well as our website and classifieds ads. We encourage everyone to send blankets to their local rescue or sanctuary while including a list of mailing addresses for pig rescues th at have reached out to us. Click here for a list of mailing addresses to send your blankets to. If you are a rescue or sanctuary in need of blankets please email us at RescueAdvocates@AmericanMiniPigRescue.com

pumpkin drive, pumpkin massacre, the great pumpkin

Pumpkin Drive: The Great Pumpkin Massacre is a fun theme to promote donating pumpkins to your local rescue or sanctuary. Pigs LOVE pumpkins, the entire pumpkin. After Halloween, many places will give away or sell for very low cost their entire load of pumpkins. Check malls, churches, community events or festivals, roadside pumpkin stands, pumpkin picking farms, grocery stores, or reach out to friends on Facebook to donate their uncut pumpkin displays. Straw bales are a great donation, too! Whether it’s 1 pumpkin or 300 pumpkins, your local pig rescue or sanctuary would be thrilled to have fresh healthy food treats for their porcine pals. Try to avoid pumpkins that have been cut into, because they tend to mold and decay very quickly. We wouldn’t want anyone getting sick. Use this Rescue & Sanctuary Map to find a pigs in need near you!

Networking Adoptable Pigs: The Rescue Advocates played a vital role in incorporating the Adoptable Pig sections in the Mini Pig Classifieds. This one stop shop for all things mini pig will bring more awareness to adoptable pigs while connecting displaced pigs with families that are looking to adopt!

Networking Needs of Rescues:  In addition to the adoptable pig sections in the Mini Pig Classifieds, the Rescue Advocates were also able to include sections such as Mini Pig Lost & Found to help reunite owners and reduce the number of displaced pigs, Rescue Fundraisers, Pigs Seeking Sponsors, Rescue Organization Needs, and Rescue Volunteers  section to connect those willing to volunteer with the rescues that need it most.
